SCOTTSDALE, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) -

David Parry, a defensive player for the Indianapolis Colts, was arrested for allegedly stealing a golf cart-style taxi while in Old Town Scottsdale and then crashing it.

It happened in the early morning hours of Saturday.

According to police, a car driver picked up Parry and two other people that Parry didn't know from an Old Town bar. They were dropped off at an apartment complex near Osborn Road and 70th Street. When the driver got out of the cart to get paid from the two other riders, police said Parry hit the driver in the head, got back into the cart and sped off.

Parry then apparently crashed the cart into the apartment complex's gate on the south side. Police said they found Parry close to the cart.

When they contacted him, he displayed signs and symptoms of alcohol impairment, police said.

Much of the incident is caught on the officers' body cameras.

"He was very belligerent, cursing at the officers and insulting them, and when they went to arrest him he was yelling and pulling away," Sgt. Ben Hoster said.

"It took them a long time to get him into handcuffs," Hoster added.

Parry was taken into custody and faces felony and misdemeanor charges of robbery, auto theft, criminal damage, resisting arrest and DUI.

The Colts have not released a statement about Parry's arrest.

Parry was drafted by the Colts in 2015 and plays nose tackle. In 2016, he had 47 tackles and three sacks. He played college football at Stanford.
