MARICOPA COUNTY, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) -

Sheriff's deputies are looking for an armed man suspected of being involved in a robbery on Monday afternoon.

Maricopa County Sheriff's Office spokesman Sgt. Joaquin Enriquez says their deputies were called to the Wintersburg General Store in Tonopah after a report of a robbery.

Enriquez said witnesses told investigators that a man with a rifle robbed the store and left in a car.  No one was hurt during the robbery.

A nearby deputy spotted a car that looked like the get-away car and attempted a stop, said Enriquez, but the car kept going as deputies followed.

In the area of 337th Avenue north of U.S. 80 the car wrecked and the driver ran away from the scene.

When deputies searched the car they found a woman inside, restrained. She was not hurt and told investigators that she was carjacked earlier this afternoon near Johnson and Southern Road in Arlington, Enriquez said.

Units on the ground and in the air searched the area for the man, but he wasn't located.

Palo Verde Elementary school was put on lockdown because of the incident.
