MARICOPA COUNTY, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) -

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office investigated a fatal motorcycle accident early Saturday evening near Power and Guadalupe.

MCSO identified the victim on Sunday as Steven Slager.

The driver of a car made a left turn in front of the motorcycle rider, sheriff's deputies said.

A woman who knew him spoke about him on Sunday.

"People looked forward to seeing him and it's just a bummer to know that I'm not going to see him again," Stephanie Haworth said. "I would basically assume that I would see him every day and have a little chat and say a little hello and now I don't get to do that anymore."

Slager was a security guard at a Valley strip mall for years and went by the nickname "Bones."

"He cared about keeping everyone safe and making sure everyone felt like, because they treated this place like it was their home and he wanted them to feel that same safety."

The 59-year-old Slager was wearing a helmet.

Haworth said he was a caring guy.

"He brought a lot of happiness to people," Haworth said.

No impairment was detected from the vehicle driver, according to MCSO.
