Towering column of smoke seen from Phoenix first-alarm fire

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -

Residents in central Phoenix were seeing a column of black smoke towering into the air just before 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

Phoenix fire units responded to a first-alarm fire at a mattress and cabinetry warehouse at 4430 N. 39th Ave.

Firefighters quickly brought the blaze under control.

No other businesses or buildings were affected and there were no injuries, according to Phoenix Fire Capt. Mark Vanacore.

The cause is under investigation.
