PD: Suspects steal tools from one store, return them using false IDs at another

CASA GRANDE, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) -

Two men were arrested on suspicion they stole tools from one home improvement store and returned them to another using false IDs.

The suspects targeted Lowe’s stores in Chandler and Casa Grande, according to police.

An officer was called to the Lowe’s store in Casa Grande on Tuesday, Feb. 7, and detained two suspects. Several others fled.

Gilbert Torres, 37, of Glendale, and Michael Mata, 38, of Peoria, were arrested after further investigation and booked in to the Pinal County Adult Detention Center.

Police found the pair’s vehicle was full of tools and appliances, mostly brands from Home Depot.

Torres and Mata faces charges of organized retail theft, fraudulent schemes and trafficking of stolen property.
