MARICOPA COUNTY, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) -

Authorities have identified the driver of a car went about 275 feet down a cliff on State Route 88 on Thursday night.

According to the Department of Public Safety, Jennifer Benson, 47, of Mesa, was trying to pass another vehicle in a "no passing" zone when she lost control, drove off the shoulder and went over the ravine.

The crash happened around milepost 204, which is between Apache Junction and Tortilla Flat.

The Buick ended up on its roof.

Troopers said witnesses first on the scene helped her out of the car. She seemed OK and cuts and bruises.

Crews had to use a "stokes basket" to get her up the ravine, the Superstitions Fire and Medical Department said.

She was taken to Mountain Vista Hospital in Mesa for treatment of scratches and contusions to her hands and arms and later released.

DPS said she was not impaired and had been wearing a seat belt but the airbags did not deploy.

Apache Junction Fire responded along with Rural Metro ambulance.
