Paper or plastic? MVD debuts kiosks that accept cash
PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -
The Arizona Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Division (MVD) will now be accepting cash at their many ServiceArizona kiosks throughout Arizona.
The kiosks, which have been an MVD fixture for years, could not previously accept cash, instead only accepting credit and debit cards.
This change has already proved popular with customers. The choice as to which payment method one can use has caused more customers to frequent kiosks throughout Arizona.
"There's been a noticeable increase in kiosk usage since we implemented the cash option," MVD director Eric Jorgensen said. "Compared to a year ago at this time, the kiosk usage has increased more than 50 percent. Part of that is due to higher overall customer awareness of kiosks, but there's been a definite uptick in usage since the cash kiosks were put in place. It's a continuation of our vision to get people out of line and safely on the road."
The kiosks are able to make exact change and handle all denominations of U.S. currency, as well as personal checks.
Now, in an effort to avoid overflowing lines, MVD transactions can be made online at ServiceArizona.com or through one of these kiosks, which have the capability to assist in vehicle registration renewal, ordering a specialty license plate, getting a replacement license or ID, filing a sold notice or obtaining one’s motor vehicle record.
