PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -

A new multi-specialty, musculoskeletal clinic is coming to downtown Phoenix, thanks to a partnership between Banner Health and The CORE Institute.

The clinic, called the Orthopedic & Spine Institute, will be located on the campus of Banner University Medical Center and will have an academic and research focus. The clinic will be the first outpatient clinic in the Banner CORE Center for Orthopedics co-management partnership.

The Core Institute is known for its leadership in payor-reform initiatives, and its systems-based quality programs, which improve the quality of patient care. Banner Health is one of the largest nonprofit systems in the country, owning and operating 28 acute-care hospitals across six states.

“Innovation and learning are at the forefront of The CORE Institute’s mission and this new partnership,” David J. Jacofsky, MD, chief executive officer of The CORE Institute said. “More and more patients will continue to seek academic experts in medicine such as robotics, bioscience, genomics and research becomes more integral to healthcare delivery.”

The clinic will be staffed with physicians from The CORE Institute, trained to provide a variety of specialized care, including areas such as sports medicine, spine care and neurology care, among many others.

The clinic will also be staffed with faculty from the Orthopedic Department of the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Phoenix. The clinic's implementation will provide patients in downtown Phoenix with easier access to orthopedic care,

“The Orthopedic & Spine Institute is highly aligned, providing access to research and innovations from the University of Arizona, and will demonstrate a commitment to quality outcomes and improved patient experience,” Dr. Steve Narang, chief executive officer of Banner University Medical Center- Phoenix said.
