(3 ON YOUR SIDE) -

In a previous 3 On Your Side report Joanne and Gary Halsey said it would be extremely difficult to pay back a loan they took out just so they could get by but because of a good Samaritan, they don't have to worry about it.

"$120,000?" Gary Harper asked.

"Yeah, that was the last bill in the hospital. That was the last bill," the Halseys said.

With more than $120,000 in medical bills, the Halseys are in a deep financial hole.

In that previous report, 3 On Your Side told you about the Tempe couple and how insurance companies are steering clear of Gary because of pre-existing medical conditions.

"He has no health insurance," Joanne said.

To make ends meet, Joanne took out a $2,000 loan online with a company called Q Credit.

"I just filled out the application; I had the loan the next day," Joanne said.

But with that $2,000 loan came a hefty 209 percent interest rate which meant just to pay it back over two years, Joanne would have paid nearly $8,000.

You might recall, 3 On Your Side got Q Credit to settle, and they agreed to accept repayment of just $2,038 as payment in full. But still, $2,038 is money Joanne, and her husband just don't have.

"The night that story aired on 3 On Your Side, a viewer and his wife up here in Prescott Valley, they saw that news report, and they felt they had to do something to help Joanne out," Harper said.

3 On Your Side spoke with Mr. John Egge.

"I had been praying that God would use me with what he's given me to help people," Egge said.

Egge and his wife were so moved by Joanne and her husband's situation that they gave 3 On Your Side a check for $2,038 so the couple could pay off that loan to Q Credit.

And the very next day we handed-delivered that check to Joanne and her husband who had no idea.

"After the story aired there were a gentleman and his wife in Prescott Valley who really felt kind of bad for you guys, and he wanted me to give you this check for $2,038.49," Harper said.

"No! Oh no. I can't take this," Joanne said.

"He wants you to have it," Harper said.

"But I can't, I can't do this, Oh my God," Joanne said.

Overwhelmed by a complete stranger's generosity, Joanne says Egge and his wife are "angels."

"I hope to get my reward in heaven. That's why you either get it here or in heaven, and I'd rather get it there, so that's why I don't want to make a big deal out of it," Egge said.

As for the Halsey’s they go on to say;

"He has no idea, how much it's going to help. This has just been a weight on us and I don't know what to say, I've never met these people, my God!" the Halseys said.

Joanne also credits 3 On Your Side, saying without our initial story, she and her husband wouldn't have gotten the helping hand they need.

“May God bless you all. They don't call it 3 On Your Side for nothing," Joanne said.
