PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -

Phoenix Startup Week kicks off Monday, and along with the celebration of entrepreneurs and the local startup landscape comes a big announcement from JPMorgan Chase.

The global firm announced their plan to donate nearly $1 million in grants to eight nonprofit organizations that support programs for women and minority-owned businesses. The organizations span from Phoenix to Flagstaff and Tucson to Nogales.

The announcement took place at the welcome event for Phoenix Startup Week at Galvanize Phoenix at 9:30 a.m. on Monday. Phoenix Startup Week will continue to host a series of programs and events to help entrepreneurs and like-minded individuals to connect and learn with each other.

JPMorgan Chase is the title sponsor of the week’s events for the third straight year.
