Peoria police said a woman who was shot outside Peoria City Hall was playing Pokemon Go on her cell phone early Saturday morning.
Police said the 63-year-old victim was inside her car, playing the game in a parking lot at 84th Avenue and Monroe Street around 2:30 a.m. when the suspects appeared.
Apparently, there was some sort of fight and the men tried to steal the woman's car.
“They approached her,” Sheffert said. “There was a discussion about the vehicle and then one of the men shot her. She was shot in the face. She drove up here, called us."
The woman was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Peoria City Hall has become a new hot spot for Pokemon Go players since a new Poke Stop popped up there.
Police only have a vague description of the suspects and were reviewing surveillance tape to get better descriptions of the suspects.
