Police arrest 6 for marijuana grow operation in Surprise

Surprise police arrested six people in connection with a marijuana grow operation.

Police had been investigating the criminal enterprise operating under the name "Frosty's Fresh" for a month, according to Officer Tim Klarkowski with the Surprise Police Department.

On Wednesday, investigators served four search warrants at residences in Surprise and one at a home in Tempe related to the illegal growth and distribution of marijuana.

Klarkowski said investigators located approximately 645 marijuana plants with an estimated yield of approximately 213 pounds of marijuana. They also found more than 2 pounds of marijuana wax, 10 pounds of cultivated marijuana buds, numerous firearms and a clandestine lab used to produce marijuana wax.

In total, they seized illegal substances with an estimated street value of $714,000 and an additional $12,237 in cash, according to Klarkowski.

The suspects each face numerous felony charges, including illegal control of an enterprise, misconduct involving weapons, and possession for sale and production of marijuana and narcotic substances.

The suspects were identified as Cody Ivey, 31, of Surprise; Tara Papano, 39, of Surprise; Justin Parker, 30, of Surprise; Crystalgail Gutierrez, 36, of Surprise; Tyler Hall, 20, of Surprise; and Joshua Harris, 28, of Tempe.
