MESA, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) -

The Mesa Police Department is investigating after two girls reported that a man exposed himself on Friday.

Police said one incident occurred in the area of Extension Road and Main Street. The other was in the area of Broadway Road and Country Club Drive. One girl was walking to school at the time and the other was waiting at a bus stop.

Police said each girl saw a suspicious man driving or parked nearby. Detective Nik Rasheta said the man exposed himself in both incidents, but there was no attempt of physical or verbal contact in either case.

Police have not confirmed if the two incidents involved the same suspect. They said there are similarities and slight differences in the descriptions.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic male between 25 and 45 years old with short dark hair, possibly some gray hair.

The vehicle was described as a green or dark green truck, possibly with an extended cab.

Call police with any information about these incidents.

Mesa Public Schools sent the following safety awareness message to parents:

Dear Mesa Public Schools parents,

We would like to take this opportunity to remind all students that safety should always be a top priority.

Recently, there have been two incidents when a man exposed himself to a student walking to school and a student waiting at a bus stop. The man is described as hispanic and approximately 25 to 45 years old, with short dark hair. He was driving a green truck, possibly with an extended cab. He did not approach or speak to the students.

The incidents occurred near Extension north of Main and near MacDonald south of Broadway. Mesa police are investigating and ask that you call 911 if you observe a similar subject or vehicle displaying the described behavior.

We encourage you to talk with your student about safety on the way to and from school and as they walk through the neighborhood:

• Always walk with a friend

• Never accept a ride from a stranger

• Stay alert and be aware of your surroundings

• Report anything unusual to a trusted adult as soon as possible

By reinforcing these rules and behaviors, we can all be a part of keeping our students and community safe.
