NEAR SCOTTSDALE (3TV/CBS 5) -

The Scottsdale Police Department is asking for the public's help to identify a burglary suspect after a resident captured him on video.

Sgt. Kevin Watts said the suspect knocked on the front door of a home near Hayden and Indian Bend roads at 10 a.m. on Nov. 4.

When no one answered, he went into the backyard and attempted to break in through the back door. Watts said at some point, the suspect became startled and left the area in a light-colored four-door Ford sedan. Police said the license plate on the getaway vehicle was stolen.

A resident who was inside the home captured video of the suspect. Click here to watch it.

The suspect is described as a white male, 5 feet 6 inches to 6 feet tall, 180 to 220 pounds with a thick goatee. He was wearing jeans, a white T-shirt and a black baseball hat with "Jacksons" on the front.
