SUV and bus collide in Phoenix

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -

An SUV and Phoenix city bus collided in Phoenix on Wednesday morning.

It happened at approximately 6 a.m. on the eastbound side of Bethany Home Road at 36th Avenue.

The SUV struck a wooden pole after the collision with the bus.

The driver of the SUV was transported to a hospital with what appears to be injuries that are not life-threatening, according to Sgt. Vince Lewis with the Phoenix Police Dept.

The patient is a 31-year-old male who was in stable but serious condition, according to Capt. Reda Bigler with the Phoenix Fire Dept.

Video from the news helicopter showed damage to the left front end of the bus.

There were passengers on the bus who did not appear to have any injuries.
