2 teens shot in Phoenix, 1 killed

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -

A 17-year-old male was shot and killed on Monday night, and a 15-year-old male who was with him was shot and critically wounded, according to Sgt. Vince Lewis with the Phoenix Police Department.

It happened at approximately 7:45 p.m. in the area of 3300 West Harmont Drive, near 35th and Northern avenues.

Lewis said the victims were outside of a residence when they were approached by two people.

One of those people fired a gun at the victims striking both of them before fleeing with the other person.

Both victims were transported to hospitals and the 17-year-old was later pronounced dead. He has been identified as Carlos Villareal.

The 15-year-old suffered a critical injury but is expected to survive.

Police have not arrested any suspects.

The investigation is ongoing.
