Pinal County Animal Care and Control is looking into a situation where two dogs were found dead and other dogs were seen living on a Maricopa property.
Officers responded to the house near Hidden Valley Road and Bowlin Road sometime on Monday morning. They spotted the dead dogs and several others within the fenced property.
The owner wasn't home at the time officers were there.
"The deceased dogs were in such an advanced state of decay that we wouldn't be able to determine a cause of death," Animal Care and Control Director Audra Michael said in a statement.
Officers said the other dogs appeared to be doing OK.
Michael said that her officers are currently working with the County Attorney's Office and the Sheriff's Office to determine what the next steps will be in this situation.
