PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -

Hundreds of people will be showing off some skin in Phoenix this weekend.

The 2017 Body Art Expo opened Friday at the Arizona State Fairgrounds.

It’s billed as the world’s largest tattoo and body art convention, with more than 100 artists per show.

"The thing about tattooing is that it's personal to everybody,” local tattoo artist A.J. Larson said. “So it's up to the individual on how high they want to set the bar for themselves and take it to that limit and that's what I think separates it from painting or sculptures. I mean it really comes to life. It bleeds, it walks around and dies with you."

Some artists travel from all over the country, others are local.

Larson says he's tattooed more than 35 Arizona Cardinals players, as well as singers, like Jordan Sparks and Jason Derulo.

Saturday’s hours are from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and on Sunday, the expo is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
