CHANDLER, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) -

The Chandler Police Department is asking for help to identify a bank robbery suspect.

Police said the Bank of America at Alma School Road and Chandler Boulevard was robbed at around 11 a.m. Tuesday.

According to Detective Seth Tyler, the suspect entered the bank with a gun, passed a black leather backpack to a teller and demanded money. After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspect fled on foot.

Just after the robbery, a witness outside the bank reported seeing orange or red smoke coming from the suspect's backpack. Tyler said it is possible the suspect may have orange or red dye stains on his clothing, articles or skin.

The suspect is described as a black male, 30 to 40 years old and between 6 feet 2 inches and 6 feet 4 inches tall. He has a mustache and appears to have a thick build.

At the time of the robbery, the suspect was wearing a blue sweatshirt, blue jeans, tan work boots and a dark gray baseball cap. He was wearing an orange traffic vest over the blue sweatshirt and wore a black cold weather hood, which was pulled up to his bottom lip. The suspect was also wearing dark gloves and sunglasses.

Anyone with information about the suspect's identity is asked to contact the Chandler Police Department at 480-782-4130 or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS (948-6377).  Silent Witness is offering a reward up to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest or indictment of this suspect.
