PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -

The Phoenix strip club manager and doorman charged in connection with the beating death of an off-duty Daisy Mountain firefighter both entered pleas of not guilty during their arraignmentsTuesday.

Brandon Douglas Draper, 26, is charged with second-degree murder.

Timothy John Piegari, 42, is accused of hindering prosecution and one count of tampering with physical evidence.

Piegari is a manager at Centerfolds Cabaret, where Draper allegedly assaulted Luke Jones on Jan. 21. Police say Draper shoved Jones to the ground and struck him in the head several times. Jones was injured at the time and was wearing a brace to protect one of his arms, according to police.

At Draper's first court appearance, the judge set a $250,000 bond. He has a history of traffic violations and one for underage drinking. The judge scheduled a pretrial conference for March 21.

The judge presiding over Piegari’s initial court appearance released him on his own recognizance. Piegari, who once served a two-year prison sentence for a marijuana violation, is also due back in court for a pretrial conference on March 21.

Jones, 37, had been with the Daisy Mountain Fire District for 12 years.
