PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -

A wrong-way driver on State Route 51 collided with a vehicle and got away early Monday morning, Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers said.

Just before 5 a.m., troopers began getting reports of a gray sedan traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of the Piestewa Freeway.

The sedan struck a vehicle in the left lanes near Indian School Road and then fled the area, exiting at Thomas Road, DPS Trooper Kameron Lee said.

It wasn’t immediately known if anyone was injured.

As of around 5:10 a.m., the HOV and two lanes of the freeway were blocked.
