Police ID motorcycle rider killed in crash in north Phoenix

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -

Police have identified motorcycle rider who was killed in a crash in north Phoenix on Saturday.

He is 53-year-old Cornelius Wouters.

The collision happened near Cave Creek Road and Union Hills Drive.

Firefighters say two motorcycle riders clipped each other, and then one of those motorcycles hit a pickup truck.

Phoenix Fire units treated and transported two motorcycle riders.

The first rider was an adult female, who was transported in critical condition.

The second rider, Wouters, was transported in extremely critical condition. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital as a result of his injuries.

Fire officials say he had not been wearing a helmet.

The driver of the vehicle was evaluated on scene and refused transport to the hospital.

No citations were issued, according to Phoenix Police Sgt. Vince Lewis.
