PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -

With Super Bowl excitement in the air, the Arizona Department of Transportation is kicking of the day with highway reminders to drive safely.

Motorists traveling on the state’s highways may see several clever phrases on ADOT’s message boards.

They include:

  • Blow the whistle on distracted driving.
  • Falcons? Patriots? We don’t care. Just drive sober.
  • Speeding is unsportsmanlike conduct

ADOT has said the purpose of messages like these is “grabbing people’s attention and making them engage with important safety messages.”

The messages are meant to “start conversations and make motorists reconsider their actions,” ADOT said in a past blog.

ADOT operates more than 200 message boards across the state.
