Furnas was allegedly driving aggressively when a trooper with the Arizona Department of Public Safety tried to pull him over at around 2:10 p.m,

The man failed to stop and sped away on southbound Loop 101, DPS spokesman Quentin Mehr said.

"The vehicle went onto the Red Mountain freeway, where the suspect attempted to strike the trooper's vehicle, then exited onto city streets, where the pursuit was terminated," Mehr said.

Troopers found the vehicle abandoned  in the river bottom near McKellips and the Red Mountain freeway.

A perimeter was setup and a search began.

A short time later, Furnas was taken into custody without incident.
