PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -
Hundreds of thousands of Arizona taxpayers may have received forms that don't contain the correct information they need to file taxes.
According to the state Department of Revenue, about 580,000 Arizonans received 1099-G forms that have information from the 2014 tax year, instead of the correct information from the 2015 tax year. The department previous estimated the number at about 640,000 taxpayers.
The most common use of the 1099-G is to report unemployment compensation as well as any state or local income tax refunds that were received that year.
The department said it is taking steps to send out the documents with the correct information.
If you have received a 1099-G form that has incorrect information on it, the department has an email for questions: 1099G@azdor.gov.
The department said it is trying to figure out how the error occurred and trying to prevent it from happening again.
