PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -

A suspected drunk woman was hit by a Phoenix Fire Department pickup truck in east Phoenix on Monday night.

It happened around 7:30 p.m. in the area of 30th Street and Indian School Road.

Police said the crash involved a battalion truck, which is similar to an F-150 pickup truck and the driver was responding to an emergency involving hazardous materials.

The victim was taken to the hospital with injuries that aren't considered life-threatening.

Police said investigators suspect that woman was impaired by alcohol and that she was jaywalking.

A fire captain with close to 30 years experience was driving the truck.

Traffic was restricted in the area and motorists were told to use alternate routes.
