3 On Your Side was able to get $827 back for Jay Naugle and his wife. The couple hired a painter to re-do their kitchen and paid him half up front to get started.

But they say the job was horrible. In fact, before the painter even finished, many of the cabinets started flaking and peeling.

So, Naugle called his bank, Chase, and put a "stop payment" on that $827 check to ensure the painter returned to make things right.

“As a consumer, did you feel like you were doing everything right?” Gary Harper asked.

“Yeah, I felt like it was what Chase told me to do. And I thought it was really my only course of action," Naugle replied.

But even with that "stop payment" in place, Chase allowed the unlicensed painter to cash the check a month later. The Naugles say they couldn’t believe the money came out of their account even though they placed a “stop payment” on it.

So, 3 On Your Side got involved. Chase never told us why they allowed the check to be cashed. However, at our request, they immediately put the $827 back into the Naugle’s account.

“My 3 On Your Side experience was really good. Gary Harper was very easy to work and me and wife were very, very pleased," Naugle said.

3 On Your Side also helped out Shay Moses. She returned a non-working smartphone back to a Verizon Store where they inspected it and determined it was a software issue. As a result, they agreed to give her a new phone and shipped the faulty one back to Verizon’s corporate office.

However, Verizon later sent her a $299 bill claiming the phone she returned had a cracked screen. Moses said that simply wasn’t true and if was cracked, then it must have been damaged when Verizon employees mailed it back.

After getting nowhere, she contacted 3 On Your Side.  After we asked Verizon to investigate the issue, they not only waived the $299 bill but also provided Moses with an extra $300 credit.

She says it only happened because of 3 On Your Side.

"Absolutely great. I wish I would've thought of you guys sooner. I would've called a long time ago,” she said.

And you can't forget Ruth Patterson. She paid her doctor's office, which is owned by Abrazo Medical Group, $94 for a bill.

But even after it was paid, she was sent to collections because Abrazo claimed it never received the money.

After 3 On Your Side got involved, Abrazo Medical Group discovered their mistake and took Patterson out of collections. And, even Abrazo's CEO called Patterson to apologize.

"When you can get the president or CEO of a company to call you over a $94 bill, it shows your right there the power of 3 On Your Side and Gary Harper," Patterson said.

When you add up all the money 3 On Your Side was able to recoup or save our viewers this month, it amounts to $3,778.

And we're just getting started. Last year, 3 On Your Side helped recoup a total of nearly $170,000 for our viewers.
