MESA, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) -

Volunteers have an important job at Banner Desert Medical Center. They help out newborns by cuddling with them.

They come to the hospital and their sole purpose is to help take care of the very vulnerable babies that are in the neonatal intensive care unit. The babies need special care and attention.

Some of the babies may be born drug-addicted and are experiencing withdrawls. Others, such as the baby we visited on Sunday, were born very premature and need some extra attention, love and cuddles.
