PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -

There were some scary moments for several Phoenix firefighters battling a mobile home fire Friday morning.

They fell through a thin floor while trying to extinguish flames near Cave Creek and Loop 101.

The owners had created a crawl space under the home between the subflooring and concrete foundation, Phoenix Fire Capt. Chris Harman said.

The home’s floor was only 2.5 inches thick.

“We had to be real careful. We were delayed getting in there to be able to get it all clear and make sure we had people inside because that floor was giving away every step we would go interior to that house,”  Phoenix Fire Capt. Chris Harman said.

One firefighter reportedly complained of knee pain from the fall.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
