GLENDALE, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) -

You can see the love Kaylynn Hart has for 2-year-old Gabriel.

"I just saw that he needed me and I needed him," said Hart.

Gabriel used to be Hart's patient at a long-term care facility in the Valley.

As a baby, Gabriel had meningitis and a stroke, leaving him with an assortment of physical and mental disabilities.

When the child's therapy benefits ran out, Hart offered to bring the boy home to live with her family and continue his treatments.

Gabriel's parents said OK.

"He's come so far," said Hart. "He wasn't holding his head up and he can do that now with therapy. He's almost sitting up. He wants to walk and make noises every day. Every day it's something new. It makes it worth it."

Kim Reasons said that what her friend is doing to help Gabriel is simply amazing, not to mention the fact that Hart has quit her job as a respiratory therapist to care for Gabriel full time, which can get expensive.

Reasons reached out to CBS 5 to Pay it Forward to Hart with $500.

Reasons surprised Hart at her home, as the TV camera was recording.

"The completely unselfish care that you provide him is incredible," Reasons told Hart. "I know that it's rough financially and getting him everywhere with appointments and everything. So on behalf of my family and Channel 5 we wanted to give you $500. I know you need it."
