Reward increased to $5K to help identify suspect in Mesa child sex assault

MESA, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) -

The reward has been increased for information leading to the identification and arrest of the suspect in a Mesa child sex assault case.

Police said a man walked into a home near Broadway Road and Mesa Drive while the residents were sleeping and sexually assaulted a child.

The incident occurred during the overnight hours between Jan. 8 and Jan. 9.

Police have not disclosed the age of the child or how the suspect got into the home in order to protect the investigation.

Police released a composite sketch of the suspect described as a Hispanic man, between 18 and 30 years old, with a short build and short, dark hair. He was last seen wearing a T-shirt and shorts.

The reward has been increased from $1,000 to $5,000 as police continue to try and identify the suspect.
