SURPRISE, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) -

The Surprise Police Department is asking for the public's help to identify an assault suspect.

Police spokesman Sgt. Norm Owens said officers responded to a report of an assault at a business near Bell and El Mirage roads shortly after 8 a.m. on Jan. 14.

The officers spoke with an employee who reported being physically assaulted near an elevator located in the business. The unknown suspect reportedly quickly approached and touched the employee aggressively and inappropriately, Owens said.

The suspect was described as a black male, approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall, wearing gray sweatpants, and a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt with a California Republic and bear emblem on the front.

The suspect was seen fleeing in a silver four-door passenger vehicle. The license plate is unknown.

Anyone with information about the suspect's location or identity is asked to call 623-222-4543 or send an email to crimetips@surpriseaz.gov.
