PD: Shoplifting suspect pepper-sprays security officer

Police are asking for help to identify a shoplifting suspect who allegedly pepper-sprayed a security officer.

According to police, the female suspect shoplifted items from the J.C. Penney store at Paradise Valley Mall on Dec. 26.

A loss prevention officer stopped her outside the store at around 4:40 p.m. Police said the woman sprayed the officer with pepper spray before getting into a truck that was being driven by a man. 

Witnesses described the vehicle as a black 1986 Ford truck with Arizona license plate BSM8669.

The shoplifting suspect is described as a white female, 25 years old, 5 feet 7 inches tall and 120 pounds. Police released a photo and surveillance video of her.

Anyone with information about the woman's identify or whereabouts is asked to contact Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS or silentwitness.org.

Callers may remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
