GLENDALE, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) -

A 56-year-old Phoenix man was killed in a motorcycle crash early Wednesday morning.

The call about the wreck at 51st and Northern avenues came in at about 1:30 a.m., according to the Glendale Police Department.

Detectives said Michael Powell was traveling eastbound when his motorcycle struck the median as he was approaching the intersection.

At this time, investigators don't know if speed or impairment were factors in the crash.

Officers said there was very little damage to the bike. They also said the bike and the rider were about 500 feet apart.

Powell was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said he was not wearing a helmet.
