Paradise Valley Community College is no stranger to winning national championships in the sport of women’s soccer. The Pumas won titles in 2010 and 2012. Saturday they’ll depart for the national tournament in Florida, four wins away from the 2016 national championship.
P.V.C.C. is the prohibitive favorite to emerge with the title. They’re unbeaten (22-0) and ranked #1 in the nation.
The roster is made of local athletes including Mesa’s Jamie Iurato who set the school record with 45 goals in this her sophomore season.
The Pumas defeated conference rivals Pima Community College on Saturday 3-0 in the Region 1 Championship match to complete a perfect season.
NJCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Tournament in Melbourne, Florida runs November 14-19.
