Positive thinking is what we all should strive for, right? Wrong.  For Better Decision-Making, Start Thinking Like 'C.R.A.P.' Instead.

Clarity. First, get crystal clear on the issue at hand. Start by removing anything that is NOT relevant. Ask yourself, "What is my target? What am I trying to achieve?"

Relevance. Hone in on what factors are significant. Ask yourself, "Are these obstacles preventing me from hitting my target? Are they directly in the way? Do I need to address them before I go for my goal?" If not, stop focusing on your fear of hitting them and go straight to your objective.

Accuracy. Here's where you separate facts from truth. Facts cannot change, they are unalterable. Truth on the other hand is pliable. For example, the fact is that its 68 degrees outside. The truth is that after living in Hawaii for 4 years, 68 degrees is downright cold. But after living in Serbia, 68 degrees is heat stroke territory. In order to make a reliable decision, know what information is a fact and what is truth.

Precision. Make your facts more exact before you make a plan to accomplish your goal. For example, your boss hands you an assignment and says to have it done by Wednesday. Well, what time on Wednesday? LUNCH. Sometimes you eat lunch at 2pm, what time exactly do you need it? 12noon. Now you have complete control over the task and can make a plan to get it done.
