Phoenix Greek Festival - OPA!
It's time for one of Phoenix's favorite and time honored traditions, the Phoenix Greek Festival, beginning today, Oct. 7th-9th. This is the 56th annual Phoenix Greek Festival, and it's said to be "the original," and largest Greek festival in the state, where everyone is Greek for the weekend.
Admission: adults $3.00; children under 12 free; seniors 60 + free Saturday 11- 3 only

Peoria Police Department to Participate in National Coffee with a Cop Day
On Friday October 7th, officers from the Peoria Police Department and community members will come together in an informal, neutral space to discuss community issues, build relationships, and drink coffee. October 7th is the official "National Coffee with a Cop Day".
All community members are invited to attend. The event is from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at Dunkin' Donuts, 8386 West Thunderbird Road, Peoria.
Coffee with a Cop provides a unique opportunity for community members to ask questions and learn more about the department's work in Peoria's neighborhoods.

Four Peaks Oktoberfest at Tempe Town Lake
The Four Peaks Oktoberfest is headed back to Tempe Town Lake this weekend for the 44th year of the event and this year is not to be missed! There is a lot going on out at the festival, new and exciting things happening out there this year!
The event runs this Friday, October 7th through October 9th.

Arizona State Fair opens today with new attractions
From new rides to new food, the Arizona State Fair opens today with new attractions for the entire family through October 30th. Fans will encounter Big Foot, King of the Monster Truck, a new Rock n Roll exhibit called Rock U, and even the return of Gus Gus, the baby goat who was infamously taken and then returned at last year's fair.

Founder of popular "Brownie Brittle" debuts new cookbook

Recipe: Pumpkin Pie with Brownie Brittle Crust
YIELD 8 to 10 servings
PREP 15 minutes
BAKE 50 minutes
This recent addition to our family's holiday fare was a H-U-G-E hit! It's spicy, sweet flavor and rich, creamy texture are what you'd expect from a much more complicated recipe. But it really is a breeze to make. Guess you could say it's as easy as pie. And who doesn't appreciate easy around the holidays? Or, pie for that matter!
BROWNIE BRITTLE CRUST
11/2 cups BROWNIE BRITTLETM
(One 5-ounce bag = 1 cup crushed)
or chocolate wafers crushed in
A food processor
6 tablespoons salted butter, melted
1 (15-ounce) can pureed pumpkin
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 large eggs
1 (14-ounce) can sweetened
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
2. PREPARE THE BROWNIE BRITTLETM CRUST: Mix the crushed BROWNIE BRITTLE with the melted butter. Press the crumb mixture firmly and evenly into the bottom and sides of a 9-inch pie pan. Bake for 10 minutes and set aside to cool. Increase the oven temperature to 425°F.
3. PREPARE THE PUMPKIN FILLING: Combine the pumpkin, cloves, ginger,
nutmeg, cinnamon, and salt in a small saucepan. Stir and cook over low
heat for 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. Set aside and allow to cool.
4. Beat the eggs thoroughly in a bowl and then mix in the sweetened
condensed milk. Add the cooled pumpkin and spice mixture to the egg
mixture and blend thoroughly.
5. Pour the pumpkin filling into the crust and bake for 15 minutes.
6. Reduce the oven temperature to 350°F and bake an additional 35 minutes
or until center appears to be set.
7. Allow the pie to cool completely, then refrigerate until ready to serve.

Pop Up Museum celebrates life of Ernest W. McFarland
The Arizona Capitol Museum is celebrating the life of Ernest W. McFarland with a pop-up museum this weekend to coincide with his Oct 9th birthday. McFarland served in all three branches of government, was a U.S. Senator, Arizona's 10th Governor, Chief Justice of the AZ Supreme Court, Father of the GI Bill, Founder of KTVK-3TV (in 1955), and much more.
