Helping wounded veterans gain mobility

Walt Altmann a Vietnam Veteran and owner of four UPS stores in the Valley is helping wounded Arizona Veterans get back their mobility, and you can help too. You can donate to the Independence Fund at his *locations, and/or join in at the McDowell Mountain Ranch Community Center on Sept 10th from 3:30pm-7:30pm for a fundraising event of food, silent auction, music, games and more.

Inspired by The Independence Fund's mission, Walt and his team are raising funds for an all-terrain wheelchair, also known as a track chair for a severely wounded combat veteran local to Arizona. The cost of such a chair is $16,000 per device, all donations will be matched 25% by Walt.

Wet-n-Wild Free for Veterans, Police & Fire  

On Saturday, Sunday and Monday, September 3-5, veterans, members of the active U.S. military as well as first responders (active duty police, fire and EMT) can enjoy a day of fun at Arizona's largest water park for FREE. Additionally, up to six immediate family members will receive half off admission - $21.50 plus tax during this special weekend.

The waterpark will be open from 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. both Saturday and Monday. Then Sunday, September 4, its open from 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. with a stunning free fireworks shows beginning at 7:45 p.m.

The park is open weekends in September and October from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in September and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in October until October 16.

Labor of Love event provides free dental services 

For five years, Risas Dental & Braces has offered free services to the Valley during their "Labor of Love" event. It goes from 8am to 12pm today, and is one of the biggest dental care events of the year. This Labor Day, (Monday, Sept. 5) the Phoenix dental group is providing free dental services at nine of their locations across the Valley. Patients are in line by 9am will have the opportunity to choose from one of four free treatments, including a basic teeth cleaning, cavity filling, tooth extraction, or a complete exam with X-rays. 

Labor of Love Day was created to provide aid to the growing number of adult Americans who can't afford dental services. It Risas' mission to reach people who are unable to visit the dentist due to lack of insurance or financial difficulty and end up missing out on preventative dental care that could greatly help both their oral health and overall health.
