Burger Daze at Liberty Market

During the month of August, Liberty Market is having "Burger Daze". Every day, in addition to their regular menu, they’re having a special burger. Some are made from meats other than our local, natural ground chuck. Others have unique flavor profiles or an international spin. This gives them an opportunity to have a bit of fun with burgers and their guests to have plenty of variety. As you may know, Chef Traina has plenty of burger experience: he was the first chef at DeLux. His Tower Burger (a Liberty Market bestseller) is one of the tastiest burgers in the Valley.

Not only do guests get to try a broad range of burgers during the month, they can also win a gift from us.  Any guest that eats 10 different burgers gets a $50 gift card. If they eat all 31 varieties, they get a $250 gift card. All a guest must do is keep all receipts and turn them in the first week of September for verification.

National Mutt Day

July 31 is National Mutt Day and we have many wonderful mixed breed dogs and cats waiting to be adopted! Mutts make excellent pets for many reasons such as you get the best of 2 or 3 worlds when you mix breeds, they tend to live longer and you save money and a life by adopting a mixed breed.

Our no kill shelter is located in Tempe.  We rely on volunteers for a variety of things such as walking dogs, playing with the cats, bathing and grooming the animals, helping with our pet pantry, driving pets to appointments, and so much more.  We also have a wonderful reading program for minors who want to spend time reading and interacting with our dogs and cats.

If you are interested in volunteering with us, please complete the Volunteer Application by clicking the Apply Now link below. We have flexible shifts seven days a week that can fit any schedule. An orientation is required before your start date.  To get started, contact our Volunteer Manager, Tona Treetop, at (602) 445-7387 or

Lost Our Home Pet Rescue or call (602) 445-7387 (PETS).

National Cheesecake Day

Cheesecake Factory Shares "Truffle Cheesecake" recipe in honor of National Cheesecake Day, July 30!
In honor of National Cheesecake Day, July 30, The Cheesecake Factory wants to show your viewers how to celebrate their favorite food holiday with a unique Cheesecake Truffle recipe.

RECIPE: Chocolate Hazelnut Cheesecake Truffles

Cheesecake slices, we suggest The Cheesecake Factory "Original" and Chocolate Mousse Cheesecake
Ghirardelli Dark Melting Wafers
Raw, Whole Hazelnuts (preferably without skin)

1.    Begin with your favorite Cheesecake. Remove any loose decorations or whip cream rosettes.
2.    Use a small 1 oz. scoop to scoop the Cheesecake into round balls.
3.    Place scoops onto a wax-paper lined sheet tray.

4.    Place tray in the freezer for 1- 2 hours to "deeply chill" the Cheesecake balls. Keep in freezer until ready to use.
5.    Meanwhile, using a double boiler over low heat, heat the Dark Melting Wafers to approximately 100' F.
6.    Meanwhile, place Hazelnuts in a heavy saucepan in a single layer. Place over medium heat. Stir approximately every minute. Cook 5 to 10 minutes or until browned and they begin to give off a nutty aroma.
a.    Note: If you're using roasted Hazelnuts instead of raw nuts, we recommend roasting them again to help activate the natural oils and wonderful aromas.
7.    Remove Hazelnuts from heat immediately so they don't overcook. (Keep a close eye on them when cooking as they will go from brown to burn very quickly.)
8.    Allow Hazelnuts to cool slightly before chopping.
a.    Note: if using Hazelnuts with skin on, place cooled nuts into a clean, dry towel and roll vigorously between your hands to remove the skin.
9.    Remove while the Hazelnuts are still slightly warm, use the side of a chef's knife to crush them (similar to crushing garlic) and then coarsely chop to approx. 1/8" pieces.  Sift the chopped nuts through a stainless steel strainer to remove any dust, and transfer the nuts into a glass bowl.
10.    Remove Cheesecake balls from freezer & completely submerge in the heated Chocolate.  Remove with a fork and "bounce" the fork on the surface of the chocolate to allow the extra to drip-off.
11.    Use another fork to transfer the dipped-cheesecake ball onto the wax paper-lined sheet tray.  Sprinkle the top of the Truffle with chopped hazelnuts.
12.    Transfer decorated Truffles to serving tray.
13.    If making ahead of time: Transfer to a Tupperware container and store in freezer until ready to serve.  (May be stored up to 2-3 weeks.)  At least one hour before service, transfer to the refrigerator and serve from a refrigerated state.

Since The Cheesecake Factory is known for celebrating big, they are continuing the tradition of making it a TWO DAY extravaganza!  On Friday, July 29 AND Saturday, July 30 they are offering dine-in guests "Any slice, half price" on any of their more than 30 legendary cheesecakes!  AND they're introducing their new Chocolate Hazelnut Crunch Cheesecake its Chocolate Hazelnut cheesecake topped with Hazelnut crunch and Nutella®!
