Mornin' Moonshine

If you're a coffee connoisseur, you're going to love this! It's probably the highest-powered coffee you'll ever taste! It's called Mornin' Moonshine and only available at Vovomeena's on 7th Ave, and their sister coffeehouse called "Mornin' Moonshine" on Monroe. What makes this coffee so unique? They use a Japanese cold-brew coffee machine to create this stuff, and it is powerful! Served over ice, it's available as straight black coffee or as an infusion, with a handful of different flavors. This cup of Joe is like no other, and will definitely kick start your morning! They call their blends, "mash bills" and you can choose from 6 different flavors such as lemon-jalapeno and orange peel/ginger.
Mornin' Moonshine is high-powered coffee distilled using the Japanese cold-brewing method at our restaurant, Vovomeena on 7th Avenue, and at Mornin' Moonshine at 111 W. Monroe both in Phoenix. Mornin' Moonshine has been featured in the Arizona Republic, Phoenix Magazine, Edible Phoenix and the Devoured Culinary Festival.

Vovomeena is a local, independent, authentically crafted coffee, breakfast & brunch location.. It's a trendy little coffee and brunch spot, with good coffee in a cute little cafe setting. From Tuck Shop and Astor House owner DJ Fernandes, comes this breakfast and brunch spot that serves as a beacon on an intersection overcrowded by chains and fast food. Portuguese doughnuts and New Orleans-style French toast complement the locally crafted coffee at this lively space.

Summer Sickie

Summer has its own "stream" of illnesses, but attempts to cool off in streams, lakes and oceans could make some sick.  Camping trips where ticks are prevalent as well as just traveling puts families at risk all summer.  Dr.Sheena Banerjee, Pediatrician from AllKids Urgent Care, is here with more:

Swimmer's Ear: Water gets trapped in the ear canal and gets infected from bacteria. It's different from a typical ear infection which infects your middle ear. Swimmer's ear is very painful but easy to treat and prevent.

Traveler's Diarrhea: #1 health concern for kids that travel in the summer. Caused simply by being around unfamiliar bacteria. Be careful! Diarrhea can also lead to dehydration!

Enterovirus: Typically causes respiratory illnesses and can also cause nervous system illnesses like hand, foot and mouths disease.

Food Poisoning: Summertime BBQs leave foods exposed to bacteria and contaminations longer than usual. There are several tips for handling food in the summer to help prevent kids from getting sick.

Mosquito-borne illnesses: Protect yourself from illnesses spread by mosquitos. Mosquitos thrive in warm, humid environments and the Arizona monsoon season creates ideal conditions for them to spread

Summer Seafood

This year's new Dietary Guidelines for Americans confirmed something that we at Bluewater have known for years -- Americans just aren't eating enough seafood!
And it's a shame because seafood represents one of the planet's great unexplored culinary adventures.
Since Bluewater was founded and is managed by fishermen, we're committed to making fish lovers out of everyone by specializing in the freshest, most pristine sustainable seafood and shellfish in Arizona.
For 20 years, Bluewater has been serving everything from classic seafood dishes to gourmet-caliber chef specials at reasonable prices in a friendly, neighborhood setting of casual style.
We're in the heart of the Camelback Corridor and offer a sushi bar, oyster bar, full cocktail bar with small plates and weekday happy hours, an outdoor patio and a full kid's menu of healthy bento boxes certified by the National Restaurant Association Kids Live Well program.
For lunch and dinner menus, operating hours and other information, go to www.Bluewatergrill.com.

Today, we're going to show you the different ways to prepare seafood on a barbecue, in the oven, in a sauté pan or blackened in an iron skillet. Each can be paired with seasonings and toppings to bring out the flavor including sauces, relishes, salsas and marinades.
And mention "Good Morning Arizona" at our fish market and receive a FREE pint of our house-made clam chowder with a fresh fish purchase of $20 or more.
Bluewater Grill Phoenix offer all of these fresh fish varieties both on own menu and in our onsite retail market … subject to availability of course!
1.    We'll start with Wild Salmon since its Wild Salmon Season and our own private Pilikia fishing boat just landing the freshest swordfish you've ever tasted
2.    Grilled Halibut with Chimichurri and Shaved Fennel.  Alaskan Halibut is becoming one of our most popular sustainable dishes.
3.    Oven-Baked Salmon with Avocado & Walnut relish. Another healthy, sustainable dish we call the salmon, avocado and walnut our "Omega Threesome" due to the high Omega 3 content.
4.    Skillet Blackened Swordfish with Mango & Papaya Salsa. The Pilikia allows us to serve the freshest, harpooned swordfish harvested in the most sustainably way possible. Blackening it (with proper ventilation) is a great way to cook indoors and beat the desert heat.
