"The Fire Line: The Story of the Granite Mountain Hotshots and One of th Deadliest Days in American Firefighting" Fernanda Santos, Author
On June 30, 2013, a wildfire in Yarnell, Arizona, claimed the lives of 19 members of the Granite Mountain Hotshots, a crew based out of neighboring Prescott. It was the greatest single-day loss of firefighters since 9/11. Fernanda Santos writes about the men who died and provides a detailed account of what happened that day in her new book, "The Fire Line: The Story of the Granite Mountain Hotshots and One of the Deadliest Days in American Firefighting."
Looking ahead following this tragedy, Santos told Here & Now's Peter O'Dowd that unless there is a change in how we manage forests and prevent fires, more firefighters will be in danger. "It's going to happen again, it's almost inevitable. Fires are here and they are getting bigger, they are getting hotter, they are getting more dangerous and the way we still fight them is by putting men and women on the line. So we're going to have to make some tough decisions and maybe say, you know what, that fire's going towards a town, going towards somebody's beautiful home. Unfortunately, we are going to have to let that burn because it's either that or putting lives on the line and losing people."

One part serious. One part delirious. Simply put, we're just better together. As the mother-daughter duo Donna Gabrilson and Stacey Barnes, we see things from different perspectives, but when it comes to toffee, we share one very enchanting muse. We call her Simplexity. What's Simplexity? It's the fun of juxtaposing simple, pure ingredients with complex, inspired flavors. It's where my "been there, loved that" mom's recipe meets the "what if we added?"... twist. Together, it's simply Goodylicious! So what does the future hold? We're still chewing on it. But whatever fantabulous journey awaits, it's sure to be doubly delicious.
We did close our retail shop 2 years ago and went virtual. You can order all our handcrafted goodies directly online www.goodytwos.com and we offer special discounted shipping for AZ addresses. We also have our Toffee and 2-zels carried at some awesome local retail shops, Sorso Wine Room in Scottsdale Quarter. Cactus Flower in Scottsdale, Sphinx Date Co. in south Scottrade & and or those flying out of sky harbor airport, three shops in terminal 4 carry our toffee to satisfy the sweet tooth on the plane ride or to bring local AZ goodies as gifts to where ever they are traveling.
