MESA, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) -

The Aldridge family installed security cameras around their home just a few years ago when their cars got broken into. “It’s really scary. I got them to help my wife feel safe,” said Stephen Aldridge.

But what they watched early Sunday morning shocked them. They saw a man with a gun in his hand, just feet away from their front door. “Scary thought to think a guy is ripping off your vehicle with a gun in hand, ” said Aldridge.

In the video, taken around 1:30 a.m. Sunday, the man drives up, gets out of his truck and goes over to the pickup truck parked in the Aldridges' driveway. The man takes about ten minutes rifling through the truck, taking a few items; nothing of value.

But as the man walks around to Aldridge’s wife's car, you can clearly see a gun in his hand.

It was a 9mm handgun. You can see that as he goes to open the car door, he lifts and points the gun as if ready to shoot if anyone who comes near him.

“I really hope that people will be aware that this can happen. It's not just the other guy. And exercise caution and safety and call the police. Don't be a hero. It's not worth it. Hopefully get this guy caught and get him off the streets," said Aldridge.

The man didn’t just stop at the Aldridges' house. Just down the street he also broke into another family's cars.

Glendale police have the surveillance footage and are now asking for the public’s help. If you know anything, give Glendale police a call.
