Pet Adoption Day

The Fix.Adopt.Save. alliance and its seven animal welfare organizations are committed to end pet homelessness in Maricopa County through adoptions, spay/neuter surgeries and general advocacy on behalf of animals.

Alliance shelters are all taking part in National Adopt A Shelter Pet Day by offering adoption specials and encourage residents of Maricopa County to adopt a shelter pet instead of purchasing one at a pet store.

Shelter animals make great pets and can save an adopter money because the animals are already spayed/neutered, vaccinated, checked for behavioral issues and sometimes microchipped, but more than anything these animals appreciate the second chance they are being given.

Spice up your Cinco de Mayo

Spice up your Cinco de Mayo with fun and fresh ideas, complete with a fiesta spread, Margaritas, chips, dips, piñatas, and bright colors.
A buffet doesn't always mean food! We'll show you how to set out a variety of festive accessories to really make your party pop, from decor, serveware and drinks!

DÉCOR: Create a party setting to fiesta like there's no manana! Spice up your party with a variety of bright and festive colors and patterns, chili pepper red, hot pink, tangerine, sunshine yellow and lime green make for a vibrant setting. To bring a little authenticity to our setup, we used this traditional serape poncho as a table runner! This adds a little texture to any place setting; add it on top of any color tablecloth to add dimension! We used a sunshine yellow tablecloth as our base and used this glitter fiesta banner that you can use in your doorway, on the wall or at the front of your table like we did. Another great way to set the scene is to create these festive balloon bouquets. Mix and match balloons with these giant maraca balloons, red stars and yellow latex balloons. Balloon bouquets are great to add a festive touch to a large room. Use this adorable donkey piñata as decoration or as an exciting activity for your smaller amigos we named him Senor Party.

FOOD/SERVEWARE: There's no fiesta without chips and salsa! Kick it up a few notches for Cinco and create a caliente salsa bar. Your guests will be able to sample multiple recipes and even vote on their favorites! Make each place-setting magnifico with maracas! First, make your plates pop by stacking these vibrant smaller plates on top and the black on the bottom. The Square shape makes for an interesting and different look! Tie two mini maracas together with coordinating curling ribbon in a bright color. After the conga line, your amigos can shake them all the way home as fun party favors. Offer something mild, medium and hot and make sure to label them so guests can choose to their liking. We made a few authentic salsas for this display, like Mango, Lime and Jalapeno (gesture toward the chili bowls) and you can find the recipes and tons more party ideas on partycity.com in our party ideas gallery. If you're pressed for time, liven up any salsa - even store bought – by serving it in a fun oversized margarita glasses and adding in some tasty ingredients. Sombreros are nice to wear but are also an excellent size to use as a chip bowl  we've placed ours in the center of the table for easy access  though, who's to say a party guest can't rock it while there's chips in it!

If you're looking for a little grab and go create a 3-layer dip (salsa, sour cream, guacamole) and place it in these miniature cups, topped off with
olives. Every celebration should be just as fun for the party host as it is for the guests, this tableware is perfect for easy cleanup and means no dishes after the guests leave!

DRINKS: After your guest’s amp up the heat with your fiery salsa bar, chill out with some refreshing, cervezas and deliciously easy Margarita recipes.
Spicy meets classic with a jalapeno and lime wedge Margarita this is a caliente take on your traditional Margarita. The Recipe is actually very simple using the traditional Margarita mix and add jalapeno in for a spicy kick!
For a bit of a sweeter cocktail use a fruit Margarita mix and finish off with a sugary rim and rock candy to stir! Add in a few parts lime, tequila, and mix shake with ice and serve in these colorful margarita glasses.
If you're looking for an age appropriate margarita for your little amigos we have these smaller margarita glasses in the front. These were made using tangy lemonade and garnished with a little candy lime slice. Your little ones will feel just like the grown-ups!
Also, check out our fun little mustache shot glasses if that's your thing, or these beer bottles dressed in little serape cozies!

PHOTO PROPS: Having a buffet doesn't always mean food! Set out a variety of fiestive accessories and props for a fantastic photo booth!
Lay out fun margarita sunglasses, maracas and colorful beads for a variety of photo booth options.
These are perfect for photo ops / props for photo booths so you and your guests can snap Instagram-worthy pics of all the fun you can even create your own hashtag for your fiesta! #SpiceUpYourParty #nachoaveragefiesta
