MESA, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) -

A light in the sky was spotted over the Valley on Saturday night, and now we know what it was.

One of our viewers was able to record the sudden burst of light in the sky before it suddenly disappeared. She recorded the video near Seventh Avenue and Osborn Road.

Some witnesses said it looked like a meteor falling from the sky while others thought it might have been a flare.

We learned on Monday night that it was a parachute team from the Arizona Skyhawks. They jumped into Brophy High School's prom on Saturday night.

They had lights on their suits while they made their way to the ground.

"Every time we jump, someone seems to think we're a meteor or a plane on fire, or there's a ufo landing in their backyard or something like that," Tom Talbott, a captain with the Arizona Skyhawks Parachute team, said.

Talbott said every time the team jumps, they tell local police departments and the Federal Aviation Administration, so they're informed nothing crazy is going on in the sky.
