Gilbert police identify bicyclist killed by hit-and-run driver

GILBERT, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) -

Police in Gilbert are looking for the driver in a deadly hit-and-run involving a vehicle and a bicycle, according to Sgt. Jesse Sanger with the Gilbert Police Department.

Police said Erik Alsaker, 28, was riding a bike northbound in the intersection of Queen Creek Road and Ranch House Parkway at approximately 8 p.m. Monday when he was struck by a vehicle.

Alsaker was thrown nearly 100 feet in the collision.

Sanger said Alsaker was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The driver who hit the bicyclist has not been located.

Police are looking for a small SUV or dark-colored sedan with possible damage to the front end and windshield. The vehicle was last seen traveling west on Queen Creek Road.
