Financial Literacy and its Impact on women
We have credit cards, own homes, cars, etc. but nearly half of Americans are financially illiterate. According to a global survey of financial literacy around the world, the U.S. ranks 14th. Nancy Tengler of Arizona Bank & Trust and author of The Women's Guide to Successful Investing is a Financial Ambassador for Women and is featured in today's Phoenix Business Journal.
"Nearly all high school students have an 'F' education in economics. Adults have a 'C' in understanding the economy."
Financial literacy is especially important for women as they tend to be great savers, but overall they are conservative about investing. However, evidence does show that women outperform men in investing 2 to 1.
More than 90 percent of women will become a family money manager during their lifetimes, often through divorce or death, so it is very important that they learn how to invest.
For this reason, Arizona Bank & Trust has implemented the Women's Financial Forum (WFF) where we provide financial resources in a fun setting. We have an image consultant coupled with financial trends program in April and a Wine Tasting paired with the topic of estate planning in May. https://www.arizbank.com/wff
