Police are looking for the suspect in a deadly hit-and-run crash in Mesa.

According to Silent Witness Sergeant Jamie Rothschild, William Hawkins Jr. was walking west on University Drive from Alma School Road in the bicycle lane when a driver hit him at approximately 9:55 p.m. on March 6.

Hawkins later died.

The driver was traveling east on University but didn't stop after hitting Hawkins, Rothschild said in a statement. The suspect was driving a white Volvo station wagon, possibly a 1990-1998 960 model.

The vehicle was last seen on surveillance cameras heading eastbound on University past Extension.
