PHOENIX (CBS5) -

The fiery aftermath of a deadly shooting here in the Valley made headlines across the country, but now it appears scammers are trying to cash in on the tragedy.

Police say Alex Buckner shot and killed his mother, Kim, father, Vic, and their daughters, Kaitlin and Emma. Family members say Alex suffered from schizophrenia.

During a news conference Wednesday, family members said they had set up a GoFundMe account to help pay for funeral expenses, but they discovered strangers posing as the family had set up similar accounts.

"They're cutting and pasting news articles and starting their own GoFundMe pages and stuff that are not affiliated with this family," said Dan Zard, who is the brother of Kim Buckner.
