Adventure-land expansion set to open at Wildlife World Zoo, Aquarium & Safari Park

What began as a modest zoo with about 300 animals and a tongue twister of a name on 25 acres in the West Valley 31 years ago, has grown to Arizona's largest collection of wild and exotic animals with more than 6000 individuals and over 600 species on 120 acres.  The latest addition opening this season is another 15 acre parcel visible along the state route 303, nicknamed "Adventure-land" for its 4 new rides and dozens of species that are brand new to the Wildlife World collection. Plus, the expansion features a new Mexican restaurant called "ZooBerto's."

"The name 'Adventure-land' seemed to fit almost from the start of the project because building these towering new rides and habitats for so many novel animals has been just that for our staff, and we know it will be an exciting adventure for our visitors this season, too," comments zoo founder and director, Mickey Ollson.

Opening February 1, 2016, Adventure-land is included with general admission and is accessible to guests from the main zoo grounds. Visitors will be greeted by a large black bear exhibit at the entrance to Adventure-land.  From there they will encounter species from north, central and south America including: mountain lions, bobcat, white bison, 3 varieties of foxes including the Arctic fox, varieties of deer, a rare tayra, monkeys, lesser anteater, and many more.

In keeping with the successful launch of Arizona's first public aquarium in 2009, and more recently, the opening of an all new Safari Park in 2014, Adventure-land will bring visitors and animals closer together.  It will also increase the number of ride attractions at Wildlife World to ten.

The list of new ride attractions includes the classic flying scooters, a two seater zip line, a family roller coaster, and a 100-foot tall soaring swing ride, with unparalleled views as one of the tallest structures in the West Valley.  The tall swing and zip line will zoom visitors’ level with, and even above, some of the vertical primate exhibits.

Wildlife World Zoo, Aquarium & Safari Park is located at 16501 W. Northern Ave., Litchfield Park, AZ (SE corner of state route 303 and northern Ave.) We're open seven days a week, 365 days a year, including all holidays. Zoo exhibits are open from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (last zoo admission is at 5:00 p.m.) Aquarium exhibits are open from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Daytime admission includes access to the zoo, aquarium and safari park.  Special reduced evening admission to Aquarium-Only is available after 5:00 p.m.
