Arizona's First-ever shelterpup featured in Animal Planet's Puppy Bowl XII
The Arizona Humane Society (AHS) is excited to announce that Arizona will be represented for the first time in this year's Animal Planet Puppy Bowl XII as 84 puppies from 44 different rescues and shelters across the country take to the gridiron, and fill the rosters of #TeamRuff and #TeamFluff, in television's cutest sporting event.
Roxy, a Chihuahua/French Bulldog mix is one of 49 puppies in this year's PEDIGREE® Starting Lineup and will represent #TeamRuff on the big day. Roxy will also be joined by her best friend and AHS adoptable kitten,Oscar.
Their story of courage and friendship will be one of six stories featured in a special Pup Close and Personal segment. Roxy and Oscar were both just days old when they came to the Arizona Humane Society with their siblings as strays. Their friendship blossomed in their AHS foster hero home where they were both bottle fed in order to survive.
In addition to Puppy Bowl's special featured segments, the much-anticipated television event will feature the popular KITTY HALF-TIME SHOW, locker room cams, special assistant ref, Stanley the Skunk, and silkie chicken cheerleaders. This year, die-hard super fans can also get closer to the action than ever before with the introduction of PUPPY BOWL VIRTUAL REALITY which offers a full 360 degree experience. Last year, more than 10 million people tuned into Puppy Bowl XI making it the number-one cable telecast of the day.
Roxy and Oscar will be available for adoption together, for an adoption fee of $250, on Sunday, January 17 at 2 p.m. at AHS' Sunnyslope Campus Training Room. Parking is available off of the main Hatcher parking lot located at 1311 W. Hatcher Road, Phoenix, AZ, 85021. Pieology: Military Assistance Mission
If you're watching any of the games this weekend, chances are you'll be eating pizza at some point and why not give back at the same time. Pieology has teamed up with the Military Assistance Mission, and for the entire month of January they're donating $1 to that organization for every "Bacon Halo Pizza" sold.
Kris Olson, a military veteran who also owns and operates the local Pieology in Chandler and Avondale teamed up with the Military Assistance Mission during the month of January to raise money for the Military Assistance Mission in honor of the Executive Director of the non-profit group's son, Michael. The pizza was named "The Bacon Halo" after a favorite pizza of the fallen Marine. We'd love to not only bring awareness to Pieology and the Military Assistance Mission during the month of January where for every Bacon Halo Pizza sold, $1 goes back to the Military Assistance Mission (M.A.M.). Pieology will also celebrate their grand opening on January 23rd with Buy One Get One free pizzas all day long!

Women of Arizona Craft Brewers Guild Prep for First-Ever All Arizona Women-Brewed Beer to Kick-Off the 6th Annual Arizona Beer Week.
At 6 am Friday, Jan. 15, 2016, the women of Arizona's explosive craft brew scene will convene at Tempe's own Huss Brewing Company in the biggest gathering to date of beer-loving women from breweries across the state. Women from all over the state from over 30 breweries and interest in the industry will work collectively to create the first official all-female-brewed beer in Arizona. Participants hope their effort will raise awareness about the rising number of female brewers in the state while encouraging more to become active in the industry.
"More and more Arizona women are becoming craft brewers and launching their own breweries, and we thought this would be a great networking opportunity," said Leah Huss, of Tempe's Huss Brewing Company. "What was once largely thought to be a male-dominated industry is evening out, and this event is a great way to get everyone together and show other women interested in breaking in to the brew scene that they aren't alone."
On the roster for the all-female gathering is the brewing of a Red IPA, and proceeds from the new brew will go toward Go Red for Women, an American Heart Association charity that works to lower the prevalence of heart disease and stroke among American women.
Male and female beer drinkers alike will find Red IPA on tap at various Arizona breweries starting Feb. 11 as part of the kickoff for the 6th annual statewide Arizona Beer Week celebration. The week honors Arizona's explosive craft brewing scene as well as the men and women who help make it one of the state's fastest-growing industries. For more about the women of the Arizona Craft Brewers Guild or to stay up-to-date on what's on tap for Arizona's biggest week in beer, visit www.CraftBeerAZ.com or www.ArizonaBeerWeek.com.
